The Wrangler: Monster Makers start to arrive
Fanatical and secretive, if the Chimeric Brotherhood could leave all field operation's to their monstrosities and remain cloaked themselves, they would/ However, issues with unstable creatures, the threat of unexpected scenarios and the constant reality of localized signal jamming make running a war completely from the shadows an impossibility. Still, there is rarely more than a single human agent on the field.
The Wrangler shares a lot in common with their R.U.R counterparts, both are more focused on minute-to-minute command of their less than sapient troops, than fighting themselves. Wrangler’s generally stick to the back, only moving forward under dire circumstances, or to preform a task too complex for any beast. Strangely, the few that have been managed to be captured alive show very little knowledge of their organization as a whole, or even in concept.
Without any gear, a Wrangler is physically indistinguishable from any typical human, the Monster Makers seem to have some aversion to using their techniques on themselves. While the lack of any kind of augmentation could be said to impact their combat performance, it is thought that with their focus on sabotage and infiltration, the ability to ditch any identifying gear and become just another person on the street (or space station as it may be) is far more valuable to them. Still, the uniformity of their gear gives some means to identify them in the field, and hints to the organizations overall strength.
The OCTO Suit (Optical Camouflage, Texture Obscuring) is the most recognizable part of their kit, when inactive at least. The suit is actually a living organism, derived from cultured Mimic Octopus cells, though also blended with what seems to be several samples from reptiles to give the suit a kind of pliant durability and limited healing, suitable for defending from small handheld weapons. The suit can mimic any colour on the standard visual spectrum through several eyes and other sensory organs, and can minutely alter it’s texture with protrusions up to a centimetre long. Through unknown means (possibly related to taste) the suit is bio-metrically keyed to its wearer so that after a prolonged period of time outside it’s nutrient rich holding case, or if it samples the DNA of anyone not keyed to it, it biologically self destructs, releasing enzymes that rapidly cannibalize it.
The suit also gives the wearer a last ditch defensive option in the form of the Deep Sting, a small tendril that normally lies flat against the left arm. At a thought it can curl up and strike, with a small needle like tip, delivering a toxin that seems to have been based on the deadly Synanceia Verrucosa.
Other than the suit (and any mission specific gear such as keycards, explosives, documents, ect) The average wrangler only carries a wrist mounted computer, used to help control the monsters through their implants, and a Scandiacus Flechette pistol.
