It's the Robot Man, With No Robot Plan!
R-545 Mechanical Law Enforcement
In accordance with their long growing policy of removing their own citizens from harms way unless absolutely necessary, the République needed a cost efficient replacement for many policing duties. The Pijara, rechristened the R-545 upon it’s adoption, was their answer. The cheapest military capable bot in active service, it was considered ideal for light patrolling and suppression of minor criminal acts. A 545 on every corner was the idea, and they’ve gotten pretty close to it, hampered only by the bots low durability. Requiring constant replacements from the factories due to weather damage and vandalism. The 545 is generally seen benignly by République citizens, even comical, like a dim-witted policeman in a cartoon. Generally the only time they’ll see the other side of this bot is during a sports riot or other unusual disturbance. According to protocol, their lethal weapons can only be engaged through the direct order of a on-site operator conferring with home base.
Standing at 2.2 meters tall, with a distinctive set of ball shaped shoulders and elongated pill shaped head, the 545 is easy to spot at any distance. While tall, they do have a somewhat skeletal, spindly frame due to the lack of any real armouring, to help them get off the assembly line fast and cheap. What little plating they have is only meant to turn away pocket knives and the fists of hooligans, which is usually more than enough in the République. They are often painted in bright colours, both to facilitate their function as highly visible security, and to make them feel less threatening. Stylized versions of the 545 are common in posters and other government publications and their lanky profile is often used for humour by the citizens.
